The High Ridge Crew

The Early years

Eddi Wheels The Early Years Eddi wheels has been writing and playing music since he was 15. His first band was Whyte Crystal, a five piece rock band which he incorporated with his friends from high school at the age of 17, which consist of Dave Crespo on guitars, Scott Robertson on drums, Mark Uzar on vocals and Moe on bass which formulated their one time hit "Aftermath" Unfortunately they later disbanded after Dave Crespo left the group. Leaving them uncertain in what direction they were headed, it was then that they recruited singers Chris Blackwell, Roger Gimond and Monique Winstanley to record "Garage Days" which included the hits, "Friends", "You (the dream)", "Morning Glory", "A Chosen Path and "Wolfsbane" But with Scott's other commitments and lack of heart, it was hard to maintain what was once their band. In 1986 Eddi went and formed a new band with drummer Brett Gray entitled Salem's Cross and soon quickly merged with Brett's brother Chris and their local friends' band High Ridge Crew Which included Paul Wise on bass, Chris Maiselek and Chris Gray on guitars, leading them more into an instrumental progressive hard rock sound from Wise and Maiselek style of writing. The three guitar front was a new item in the Heavy Metal scene, unfortunately Maiselek quit leaving the dual guitar wizardry to Gray and Wheels alone, which they continued under the same name. They were loved by all through the New Haven and lower Fairfield county area, playing with national acts like Liege Lord and other local bands. Yet, they were still missing an incredible rock singer that they needed so desperately. As they auditioned many singers in the surrounding area, it was here when they found Fred Sernerchia at Don's Sthrol's studio in Norwalk, that they started to get their sound. But then Chris Gray left the band a year later and then Fred that left them hanging without a second guitar and again with no singer. As they regrouped, it was at this time that they brought in Matt Moran, a local friend and guitar genius from the area and formalized the new band's progressive hard rock band sound which later became Tribe The best progressive hard rock band in Connecticut with four octave range singer Jay Stevens. Paving the way into Heavy Metal history!
